As my child learns and grows, I too have learned the art of communication.
My children's learning journey taught me the art of communication
"Today, when I opened my bag and took out my wallet, I found two little bugs on top of it. It scared me so much..." If your daughter told you this, how would you react? Me? No reaction, just a little laugh!
That evening, after my daughter came home, she checked the cabinet where she kept her handbag to see if there were any bugs. To her surprise, she found some! I took a look and realized they were hard-shelled beetles commonly found in dry food and herbs. I immediately connected it to the possibility that some snacks had fallen to the bottom of the cabinet when we used the snack dispenser to feed the dog earlier and hadn't been cleaned up. I checked the bottom of the cabinet and indeed found many uneaten dog treats and bugs. Since I had to rush to cook dinner, I told my daughter to take a shower and assured her that I would clean it up later. After a while, my daughter's screams and cries came from her room. It turned out that after her shower, she had started to clean the bugs from the bottom of the cabinet but was frightened by the dense cluster of them. Since I was still cooking, I had to ask my son to help his sister clean up. To others, insects might not be a big deal; but for my daughter, they are her natural enemy, the thing she fears most in her life! No wonder she screamed.
